Manager, Marketing and Inside Sales
(Stocked Products: Scrap and Recycling, Squaring Shears)

The Manager, Marketing and Inside Sales is responsible for delivering total customer satisfaction. The position manages, supervises, and performs customer service, proposal creation, claims resolution and employee development. The Manager, Marketing and Inside Sales is also responsible for identifying and resolving issues by working cross functionally with Sales, Engineering, Technology, Quality, Purchasing, and Supply Chain. The Manager, Marketing and Inside Sales is the “go to” internal resource responsible for coordinating product applications, competitive response, sourcing, logistics, manufacturing and materials management for the designated products. The position is responsible to recommend for approval and execute the pricing policies that achieve the company’s standard gross margin dollar, market share, and order volume objectives.

This position reports to the COO and has two direct reports (Inside Sales Product Specialists) and indirect reports (Sales Agents).

Specific responsibilities include:

Subject matter expert for ASKO’s products in designated product classes, their use, design and application to serve as a source of information, guidance, and support for the Scrap and Recycling Team members as they conduct business, confront, and resolve problems
Supervise, develop and direct department staff
Coordinate cross-functional issue identification and resolution for issues impacting customer service
Be accountable for customer satisfaction and viewed as the “go-to” resource for facilitating customer satisfaction for designated products
Administer company pricing and customer service policies; assist with annual budget creation for designated products
Manage and apply guidelines for offering customer payment terms and inventory commitments
Develop strategies to apply to proposals and orders
Drive quotations and complaints to completion/mutually beneficial resolution
Work as sales correspondent for Outside Sales and Sales Agents; identify and take initiative to drive business development and sales opportunities
Identify projects which improve customer service or sales and perform project management and implementation; perform other special projects as assigned

Sales and Marketing
Drive business development for new, lapsed, and never customers by using ASKO’s customer database and ISRI database to identify lost, lapsed, and never customers; track results of customer acquisition
Represent the company at the major national, regional, local trade meetings, and key customer visits
Assist with the design and implementation of e-Marketing campaigns aimed at driving e-order acquisition
Grow market share as measured by the number of shears served in the total population of available shears in the market

Customer Service
Achieve or exceed the targeted Standard Gross Margin Dollar and sales volume objectives
Manage, develop, and perform, as necessary, the inside sales and customer service organization functions and associated business processes including the processing of inquiries, proposal development, and complaint resolution
Lead the development, implementation, and administration of pricing tools and engineering cost estimates
Acquire, maintain, and use knowledge regarding market conditions and competitive situations to adjust pricing policies appropriately conforming to pricing policy and management direction
Administer contract pricing for contract customers
Direct the maintenance of appropriate raw material and product inventory stocking levels to maximize working capital turnover, production efficiency and prevent stock outs and excess inventory
Review and analyze account and product profit performance; recommend and implement action to be taken to improve performance
Assist with management of shipments to overdue customer accounts
Identify and prompt sales for account development opportunities
Expert in Sales Representative product and territory assignments and ensure the accuracy of Sales Representative applied to each quotation for designated products

Product Management
Acquire and maintain expert ASKO product knowledge for designated areas including application expertise; apply knowledge of products, specifications, and applications to determine correct material grades and hardness for proposals and orders
Facilitate reverse engineering for adding new products

Manufacturing / Supply Chain
Develop expert knowledge in materials, engineering, manufacturing, and processes used in the production of designated ASKO products at owned facilities and suppliers
Assign, through collaboration with sales, technology, and supply chain, orders to manufacturing locations to optimize customer satisfaction
Benchmark product production costs vs. lowest costs available in the marketplace and work with own manufacturing facilities and suppliers to lower costs
Recommend supply needs to support customer service and assist with supplier development
Collaborate with Supply Chain team to manage inventories, forecast demand, source and acquire raw material, manage logistics, and coordinate production and scheduling with manufacturing sources to ensure appropriate raw material and finished goods inventory levels

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree; Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Systems Engineering or Business Degree Preferred
8+ years of customer service experience or similar industry experience
Experience in leading teams and implementing projects

Skills and Abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent analytical and organizational skills
Ability to accurately read and interpret drawings with graphic projections and three dimensional projections
Thorough understanding of geometric and dimensional tolerances as applied to drawings and shop work.
Sound business judgment, recognizing the balance between achieving sales volume targets and maintaining or increasing margins
Power user of ERP / MRP systems
Outstanding ability for managing interpersonal personal dynamics
Experience with negotiated selling
Ability to perform data analysis and manipulation
Knowledge of manufacturing processes
Knowledge of, or ability to learn about machining, heat treatment, and grinding as applicable to ASKO products
Experience leading cross-functional issue resolution
Ability to travel occasionally
